Building on the Media Training Course the MediaWorks Initiative, an innovative workforce development and community economic vitality program designed to train unemployed and underemployed residents in media, digital marketing, communications, and content production while simultaneously supporting local small businesses, restaurants, and nonprofit organizations with affordable, high-quality media and marketing services.
This initiative responds to two critical community needs:
Through an 8-week training cohort model, participants will receive hands-on instruction in content creation, social media management, podcasting, graphic design, photography, business communications, and client management. Participants will apply these skills directly through a structured service-learning model, producing marketing materials and campaigns for local businesses and nonprofit organizations.
The program aligns with downtown revitalization priorities promoted by Main Street Waterbury and contributes to local economic growth by strengthening business visibility and creating career pathways in creative and digital industries.
